Subterranean termites
Reticulitermes spp.
Yes. Subterranean termites are the termite species that damage homes in southern Colorado, and they are active in the Arkansas Valley. They live underground and travel through pencil-wide mud tubes to reach wood, so damage often stays hidden inside sill plates, joists, door frames and basement trim until it's well along. Older Florence homes are at higher risk because of wood-to-soil contact, porches and additions on shallow footings, and moisture from leaking pipes or downspouts that empty against the foundation.
Drywood termites, which some national websites mention, are not established in Colorado, so the focus here is the soil.
